| So its been a week now since I've been back from Paris (France, and not Texas in case you were wondering - although we did have a layover in Dallas, and I don't know how far Paris, Texas and Dallas are from each other... but I digress). The first few days were killer adjusting back to local time. I think I woke up at 1:30 AM on Monday morning and I could not go back to sleep for the life of me. Tuesday morning I woke up at 2:30 AM but I was able to fall back asleep and get up around 4:30 or so. This whole week has been like that, waking up around 4:30 or so. To make matters worse, I got sick on Thursday so now my sleeping times are all messed up. But back to Paris. It was a blast! We arrived on a Sunday and took the Metro from the airport into Paris. We really hit the ground running though and bought a Museum pass for 6 days. Seeing as it was a Sunday, and that many of the places we wanted to see were a ways from our hotel, we checked out the marine museum that was really close by our hotel. It was surprising cool and they had all these statues that had been on ships before. Later in the day, we went to the Arc de Triomphe.. it can be intimidating walking in that area where you have this round-about with cars coming from like 8 different directions. Many flights of stairs later, we were on top and got a good view of the city. Day 2 (Monday) we bought a Metro pass and really started to navigate ourselves around. Very quickly we were navigating the subway like we were natives.. except for the fact that we had to look at the map each and every time we wanted to go somewhere. Like my wife mentioned, we went to the Louvre (twice - once again just before closing), the Arc de Triomphe (twice - once again at night), Versailles, Musee de Rodin, Musee d' Oranjerie, the Conciergerie, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur and more. Oops, this wasn't all in one day.. this was over the span of the week. The crazy thing is that even though we had Metro passes (they work with the bus also), we walked ALOT. At most of the places we visited, you could easily walk around for about 2-3 miles and still not see everything. Versailles was absolutely ginormous! The entire grounds were easily about 3 times the size of Disneyland! We made the mistake of walking from the main palace to the Grand Trianon (the summer palace). It took about 40-45 minutes! Believe me, if you ever go there, take the tram. Best 3.5 euro you will spend in Paris. Aside from the sights, we got some good eats as well. One of the best places we remember is this restaraunt near Sacre Coeur. We had a three course meal with country pate, beef bourginon, and a chocolate mousse for about 14 euro. In Paris, all the meal prices include tax and gratuity so it was a pretty good deal. Well, this is turning out to be a very long post.. I haven't uploaded pictures yet but those will come soon. | | |
| So it finally happened. After waiting a seemingly very long time, I finally have a Wii. My wife was at work on a Saturday and I stopped by a game store while I was waiting for her. Lo and behold they had one Wii left, but it was saved for another customer with the agreement that she would purchase it with an additional year of insurance coverage. He then went to say that he would sell it to me if I would make the insurance purchase as well.
One quick phone call to my wife later, I was walking out of the store with my brand spanking new Wii. I've had it less than a week now but I'm having a blast with it. I have 4 games (Zelda, Wii Play, Rayman, and Wii Sports that comes with it), 4 remotes (1 comes with it), 2 nunchuk, and I just picked up a classic controller today (I've been itching to get some retro gaming on, like Street Fighter).
The cool thing is that I've brought it over to 2 gatherings now and it was a hit! My dad played Wii bowling on Wii Sports with us and had a great time. That was actually the first time I bowled with my dad. It was cool because it was like a bonding moment with my dad. Afterward, my uncle was even talking about getting a Wii.
So yeah, most of my posts now-a-days are game related, I confess. Right now as I type, my wife is sitting there playing Wii Play (she hasn't ever played my game systems by herself!). But stick around because next month my wife and I are going to Paris so I'll try and update again then. Til then.

| I really stink at updating this page but here's a quick update. I'm borrowing my friend's Wii while he's out of town and its way cool! This entry is actually being made from the Wii, that's why its short, I have to type each word letter by letter.
Wii Sports that comes with it is a total blast and all I've played it with so far love it. Monkey ball is pretty fun also, but I haven't played it much. Zelda is cool also, I've just gotten out of the Twilight realm for the first time so I'm just getting my feet wet. Can't wait to get my own Nintendo Wii. | | |
| I just got the new DS lite (pretty much like a game boy) that came out yesterday and its so
fun. Last night at the in-laws, my brother-in-law and I were
playing our DSes. It was cool, there were about 4 or so games
between the two of us that we could play over two different units with
1 cartride over wi-fi.
Brain Age is alot of fun. You do these quick thinking puzzles for time
and accuracy and get your progress charted over time. I've got my
wife hooked on it. Its our second day and right now her brain age
is 33, mine 35. Its so fun that my wife wants to get her own DS
now!
So much fun
